Spanning more than a decade, Echoes of Varanasi is a long-term documentary project exploring one of the world's oldest continuously inhabited cities. Photographed over multiple visits in 2013, 2016, and 2024, the work observes the rhythms of daily life where faith, ritual, work, and community come together along the River Ganges.

From the ghats at sunrise to the narrow lanes of the old city, the photographs document moments of devotion, pilgrimage, livelihood, celebration, and quiet reflection. Together, they reveal a city where centuries-old traditions continue alongside the changing realities of contemporary life.

Rather than seeking to define Varanasi, this project offers an ongoing observation of a place whose identity is shaped by its people, rituals, and the passage of time.
